Chen Yu-fan is a Ph.D. student and researcher at the Orthopaedic Engineering and Movement Intelligence Laboratory (OEMI Lab) at National Taiwan University, where he is pursuing his doctorate in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Master's degree in Biomedical Informatics from National Yang-Ming University in 2024.
His research lies at the intersection of biomechanics, sport science, and artificial intelligence, focusing on how human motion can be quantified, modeled, and enhanced through intelligent sensing and computational methods. By integrating 3D motion capture, wearable sensors, emerging computational techniques like 3D Gaussian Splatting, and AI-driven digital twins, he explores how technology can bridge surface movement with internal musculoskeletal dynamics to improve clinical diagnosis, rehabilitation, and sports performance.
Drawing from principles of orthopaedic engineering and data science, Yu-fan designs human-centered systems that connect movement analysis with practical healthcare solutions. In addition to his research, he serves as a front-end and back-end developer on a software development team, applying his technical skills to build and deploy these systems. His recent work involves developing AI-enabled gait analysis pipelines, multi-sensor fusion models, and digital musculoskeletal simulations for precision orthopaedics and rehabilitation engineering.
Yu Fan also participates in cross-sector collaborations between hospitals and industries, helping Taipei Veterans General Hospital and Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital develop applications in areas such as health management and health monitoring. He has contributed to multiple projects supported by Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, projects for the Ministry of Labor, and academic-industry partnerships focused on motion intelligence and clinical innovation.
