Build the Future of Precision Orthopaedics

The Orthopaedic Engineering and Movement Intelligence Laboratory (OEMI Lab) at National Taiwan University welcomes passionate and talented graduate students, research assistants, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars to join our multidisciplinary research environment.

We study how humans move — and how engineering, imaging, and AI can restore movement after injury or disease.  Our projects integrate biomechanics, medical imaging, wearable technology, and intelligent modeling to transform knowledge into real-world impact in precision orthopaedics, rehabilitation, and digital health.

We welcome applicants who are:

  • Curious about human movement and the mechanics of life
  • Skilled or interested in biomechanics, imaging, AI, or data science
  • Motivated to bridge engineering and clinical medicine
  • Ready to work in an international, collaborative, and translational research setting

Research directions include:

  • Dynamic 3D X-ray and in vivo joint mechanics
  • Neural and musculoskeletal modeling, digital skeletal twins
  • Wearable and sensor-based motion monitoring
  • AI-driven movement prediction and intelligent rehabilitation
  • Clinical biomechanics of ageing, neurodegenerative, and orthopaedic disorders

What we offer:

  • A strong mentoring environment led by Prof. Tung-Wu Lu, Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology (USA)
  • Access to state-of-the-art motion capture, fluoroscopy, and AI computing facilities
  • Opportunities to collaborate with NTU Hospital and leading labs worldwide
  • Support for international conferences (ISB, WCB, 3DAHM, etc.)
  • Pathways to publication, innovation, and technology transfer

Positions available:

  • Master’s students (NTU BME program or related disciplines)
  • Ph.D. students in Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or AI in Medicine
  • Research assistants and postdoctoral fellows
  • Visiting scholars and exchange students
