胡嘉瀚 Chia-Han (John) Hu

Chia-Han “John” Hu is a PhD student in the OEMI Laboratory at National Taiwan University.  With a background in Sports Medicine, his academic interests focus on foot biomechanics and sports biomechanics, integrating engineering principles with clinical insight to understand how foot structure and function respond to dynamic loading conditions.

His research centers on 3D foot morphology reconstruction, Digital Image Correlation (DIC)–based deformation analysis, FAST pin-array foot measurement, and pressure–shape coupling models. By combining imaging techniques, geometric reconstruction, and mechanical analysis, he investigates how foot shape, loading distribution, and tissue deformation interact, aiming to develop precise and clinically meaningful assessment tools.

He also extends his work into sports injury and applied movement science, examining foot stability and the effects of interventions such as kinesiology taping.  These studies aim to provide quantitative evidence for injury mechanisms and to evaluate performance- or rehabilitation-related outcomes.

John's research integrates morphological, mechanical, and functional metrics of the foot into scientifically grounded, translational indicators that inform orthopaedic assessment, sports medicine practice, and the design of functional footwear and foot-related products.
